After more than 15 years of being a band, Arcade Fire have their first No. 1 song in America, Billboard reports. It’s not on the proper Billboard Hot 100, though, which tracks the most popular songs in the country. Instead, Arcade Fire’s “Everything Now” has snagged the top spot on the Adult Alternative charts, which tracks plays on adult-oriented alternative stations.

A lot of people complained about Ed Sheeran’s guest spot on Game of Thrones. The newest news of Sheeran’s small-screen work seems even more dubious, however: The UK pop superstar will apparently guest on The Simpsons as a Lisa love interest parodying Ryan Gosling’s suspenders-wearing jazzbo heartthrob in last year’s La La Land. The episode is called “Haw-Haw Land” because, according to series producer Jean, the Sheeran character gets caught up in a “love triangle” with Lisa and Nelson.
Radiohead’s decision to play at Tel Aviv, Israel this week has been contentious enough to earn a condemnation from Roger Waters, and multiple defenses from Thom Yorke, who rarely comments on the band’s affairs. The concert is still on, and this weekend, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe spoke out in their defense. “I stand with Radiohead and their decision to perform,” the former R.E.M. said on an Instagram post. “Let’s hope a dialogue continues, helping to bring the occupation to an end and lead to a peaceful solution”
Lastweek, Nine Inch Nails released a new song, “Less Than,” from their upcoming EP, ADD VIOLENCE. NIN also released “This Isn’t The Place.” The Add Violence EP is out Friday.
For Bastille Day, French president Emmanuel Macron and a host of other dignitaries and citizens were treated to a French marching band performing a very French medley of Daft Punk classics: “One More Time,” “Get Lucky,” and “Harder Better Faster Stronger.” The video, with all its brassy disco refrains and awkward clapping along, would be hilarious even if it weren’t for the cameo from Donald Trump, who is currently visiting the country on a diplomatic trip. Judging by his facial expressions–Trump is decidedly not a fan of silky and sophisticated dancefloor pop Macron, on the other hand is loving it.
It looks like things in the crowd got a little lively during Stone Sour‘s Chicago Open Air performance last weekens. So much so, in fact, that the audience started a “Fuck Nickelback” chant in the course of the band’s set. Why all the Nickelback hate from the audience? Well, to catch you up on an incident that took place a few months ago, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger described Stone Sour as a “Nickelback light.” So the chants are acceptable in our opinion.
